What is Sheet Bending?

Sheet bending is the process of bending a sheet of metal or other material into a specific shape or design. This is typically done using a machine tool called an Abkant press, which consists of a bed or table that holds the material to be bent, and a ram that applies the force to bend the material.

The ram is controlled using a hydraulic or mechanical system, which allows for precise and accurate bending of the material.

To perform sheet bending, the material to be bent is placed on the bed of the Abkant press, and the desired bending line is marked on the material. The ram of the press is then positioned above the material, and the hydraulic or mechanical system is used to apply force to the ram, causing it to press down on the material and bend it along the marked line. The amount of force applied to the ram and the angle of the bend can be controlled using the hydraulic or mechanical system, allowing for precise and accurate bending of the material.

Once the bending is complete, the finished part or component is removed from the press and the process is repeated as needed to produce multiple parts or components. Sheet bending is commonly used in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, and electronics, where the production of precise and accurate bent parts and components is required.
